DESCRIPTION:
New beginnings are irresistible…

Christian Montgomery is burnt out. The family business is his entire world, and Christian has never stopped trying to atone for a mistake made years ago. His only break from grueling work is sitting on his beachfront deck, watching the California surfers, and wishing he could be that carefree.

Sophie Bennington was happy living in her small Kansas hometown…until she learned her entire life was a lie. So she hightailed it to the West coast, where she loves to surf, even though she’s no good at it, and she’s hoping to start a new career.

A chance encounter shows Christian and Sophie that no matter what happened in the past, the future is bright and new…but only if you have the courage to open your heart…

MY THOUGHTS:

Christian Montgomery made a mistake years ago and no matter what he does, he just cannot seem to make things right. He works way too many hours and it has finally begin to take a toll on him. If he does take a break, it is short-lived. The most Christian can do is to try and enjoy his beachfront deck. Oh that he could be as carefree as the California surfers!

Sophie Bennington has her own problems. She was doing just fine living in a small town in Kansas, but after learning something devastating, she headed to the West Coast. She is no good at surfing, but loves it nonetheless. Meanwhile, although a nurse, she is determined to start a new career.

Then Christian and Sophie meet. The circumstances were far less than favorable, but now they both get to stop and redirect their lives. Although they cannot see at first how, it would be just wonderful if the two could have a happy future together.

Christian's problem is that his job comes first, even at the expense of his health. As it is this that has become a major issue, it is really what brings Sophie into his life - and keeps her there. Now, if the tides could just change.

Suddenly Mine was an engaging read. I felt very connected to the characters. It was nice to read of a big strong hero that had a real weakness. He had to come down a peg or two in order to put his life back on track. Sophie was a delight. Her knowledge was key in helping Christian be restored. All the while there had to be further conflict in the story in order to make it work and I think it was handled quite well. I look forward to continuing this series to see what other Montgomery's might have in store.

Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of contemporary romance, Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan's Return in November 2011.

Although she waited until she was in her 40s to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Her motivation to take that step was her students: teaching creative writing to elementary age students all the way up through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams gave Samantha the confidence to take that step as well.

With almost fifty titles currently to her name, she has no plans to slow down.  You won't find her books with the erotica or paranormal titles, all of her works are pure contemporary romances.

When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading romances, playing way too many games of Scrabble or Solitaire on Facebook, wearing a tiara while playing with her sassy pug Maylene…oh, and spending time with her husband of 25 years and their two sons in North Carolina.
