MY THOUGHTS:

One thing is for certain: a single glance between Hendrix Barry and Maverick Bell was enough to pull them together. Maverick had recently broken up with his girlfriend, who just so happens to be one of Hendrix’s new business associates, Zere. Hendrix has ride-or-die friends, and she saw potential in Zere and her ability to become a good friend. However, the fact that Maverick and Zere had only recently broken up could make things complicated.

While this story focuses on the passionate relationship that quickly develops between Hendrix and Maverick, it also delves into her emotional struggle as she watches her mother suffer from dementia. Hendrix lives away from her mother and would do anything for her, but her Aunt Geneva insists that she should be the one to care for her. While Hendrix accepts her aunt’s offer, her concern for her mother never wavers.

Can’t Get Enough concludes the captivating Skylands trilogy. In the first two books, we followed the emotionally charged stories of Yasmen and Soledad. Anyone who has read the first two books (highly recommended) would have eagerly anticipated this third installment. As these books are romances, readers know to expect happy endings, but the drama and intensity surrounding the three friends make for compelling reads.

At this point in composing my review, I feel a lump in my throat. I’m glad I didn’t get a chance to read this book upon its release, as it recently became available as an audiobook for review on Libro.fm. I had already listened to the first two books from Libby (with long hold times), and I had greatly anticipated the dual narration by Wesleigh Siobhan and Jacobi Diem. This format made the book even more enjoyable.

While I may not know many individuals with dementia in my life, I would certainly have a heart of stone if I didn’t feel an overwhelming connection to Hendrix and her relationship with her mother. I also appreciated how this connection further deepened her bond with Maverick, and it is these tender exchanges that infuse the story with profound emotional depth.

MY THOUGHTS:

 

Although starting off in the red, Nancy has achieved her dream of opening her own bookshop. However, Nancy is more than a bit short of business acumen, so she has her work cut out for her. When a man named Dennis comes to Driftwood Bay, he sees Nancy’s struggles and offers her his business expertise. Since he is the grandson of one of her dear friends, Nancy agrees to accept his help. 

Even though Dennis can definitely offer Nancy the benefit of his experience, the two get off on the wrong foot, and definitely don’t see eye to eye. As they are seemingly opposites in every way, I loved the romance that bloomed between them. 

With the friction between Nancy and Dennis, this book could be a tense read at times, but it certainly made me smile more than once. I loved the story within a story and could not take my eyes off of the screen of my Kindle. I love how Kim Nash easily pulled me into the story. Equally wonderful and heartwarming, this is a book that I highly recommend.

They text each other about their dates, often scheduling them at the same restaurant so that if things don’t go well, the two of them can get tacos afterward.

Spoiler: they get a lot of tacos together.

Discouraged by the lack of prospects, Jack and Hallie make a wager to see who can find true love first, but when they agree to be fake dates for a weekend wedding, all bets are off.

As they pretend to be a couple, lines become blurred and they each struggle to remember why the other was a bad idea to begin with.

MY THOUGHTS:

 

Hallie Piper is determined to make better decisions for her life. A one-night stand turned into much more once she started to take control of her life. She has even logged into a new dating app where she hopes to find her soulmate. The one-night stand she had was with Jack Marshall, and they both are now on the same dating app, and have promised not to date each other, but they stay in contact via text where they will each share their progress.

They even make a sweet wager as to which of them will find true love first, and they set a prize for the winner. However, with Hallie’s sisters wedding coming up, and agreeing to be fake dates for that wedding, things quickly change. Fake dating is not working for them.

The Love Wager follows Mr. Wrong Number where Jack was a secondary character. In fact, Jack is Olivia Marshall’s brother from the first book in the series. I enjoyed both books, and the continuity was quite smooth, and it was quite enjoyable how the sharing of many text messages rather improved the communication with each couple in these first two books in the series.
