Review - The Way You Love Me

Author:  Miranda Liasson
Series:  Angel Falls #2
Genre:   Romance
Publisher:   Forever
Format:  Kindle ARC
No. of Pages:  360
Date of Publication:  January 29, 2019
My Rating:  4 Stars

DESCRIPTION:
A heartwarming story about love, family, and taking risks that matter

Gabby Langdon has always tried to make people happy. She even went to law school to please her father, and now she's a highly successful-albeit bored-attorney. But Gabby secretly dreams of being a writer, so for once she does something for herself-she signs up for a writing class taught by best-selling novelist Caden Marshall. There's only one problem: her brooding, sexy professor is a distraction she can't afford if she's finally going to get the life she truly wants.

Recently divorced and suffering from the world's worst case of writer's block, Caden is in Angel Falls to get his life back on track. He's focused on teaching and providing a stable and loving home for his young daughter, Ava. The last thing he needs is to jeopardize his new job, which means keeping plenty of distance between himself and his talented new student-no matter how tempted he is by Gabby's beauty, kind heart, or the sparks that fly whenever they're together

MY THOUGHTS:

Gabby Langdon just made partner at her law firm and she should be deliriously happy. She does enjoy her job, but she has a bigger dream. Gabby wants to be a writer. Over the years, she has taken a lot of auxiliary classes trying to find her niche, and she knows without a doubt that it is writing. So, she takes a creative writing class.

Caden Marshall is a best-selling author who has taken a job as a professor. One of his students causes an immediate distraction. However, Cade has a lot of baggage. He was humiliated in the publishing world, he is divorced, and he is raising his four-year-old daughter on his own. Cade hopes being back in Angel Falls will put everything to rights, even if he never writes another book.

What are Cade and Gabby going to do now that it is clear that they are very attracted to one another. With regard to Cade, he really cannot date a student. it is unethical. As far as Gabby is concerned, she previously ended a serious relationship and doesn't want a fling or anything remotely like that. She is nearing thirty-one and is looking for a future. As drawn as she is to Cade, how can he be the man for her?

Just before I read this book, I read the first book in the series. I was quite drawn into the family with that book and this followed along just perfectly. Readers got to see who Gabby had dated previously and that gave a terrific basis for this story. However, the books do well as standalones.

We meet the adorable Nonna again, an Alzheimer sufferer, and I think she, as well as the rest of the family, fit quite well in this story. Despite Nonna's losses, she still has some great expressions to share. Also, there is a bit of a legend, touched on ever so slightly in these books, so there is no doubt at all that there will be a happy ending. Both Gabby and Cade are strong, enjoyable characters. I especially loved Cade and his relationship with his daughter Ava. For example, he Googles hairstyles for Ava.

For an enjoyable read, one that will leave you feeling refreshed - if not a bit attached to this lovely family - then I encourage you to grab this and the first book. This is the second book in the Angel Falls series and was preceded by Then There Was You, and then readers have All I Want for Christmas in September to look forward to. Rafe and Kaitlyn finally get there story. I definitely have been rooting for them.

Many thanks to Forever for this ARC for review in exchange for my honest opinion.

There is a bonus story included with this book. It is Meant to Be by Alison Bliss, which is a novella in the A Perfect Fit series. Here is a brief review:

Alison Bliss returns with a novella in her popular Perfect Fit series. These laugh-out-loud romantic comedies feature curvaceous heroines finding love and convincing us that confident and sexy comes in all shapes and sizes.

"Fans of Jennifer Weiner will enjoy Bliss."

Sidney Larson always thought dark-haired, blue-eyed Brett Carmichael was sinfully sexy, to say nothing of the muscular mechanic's talent with his hands. But Sidney so didn't have time for Brett's overbearing tendencies when they were together so she broke things off. Now a chance encounter brings Brett back into her life, and Sidney can't help but notice intriguing changes in her ex. So what's stopping her from revisiting their scorching-hot chemistry?

Since Sidney dumped him, Brett's made major life adjustments, thanks to therapy and a long, hard look at himself. Sure, he's still intense but he knows how to focus his energy on his career, not on trying to control a fantastic woman like Sidney. Brett finds the sweet, generous brunette more seductive than ever, but now that he's finally worthy of her, will she be willing to give him a second chance?

MY  THOUGHTS:

Over the past few months, I have been reading the bonus novels in some of the books released by Forever. This is a great opportunity to learn about new authors and series. Meant to Be was a quick, engaging read. It is a book of second chances and where our heroine, Sidney, has self-esteem issues due to her weight. What a perfect read!

Brett Carmichael just got lucky. His breakup with Sidney Larson was very hard on him and he has always wanted an opportunity to make things right with her. So, one day when she has a flat tire, and he happens upon her, he hopes to get a chance to fix things with the delectable Sidney.

There are only a handful of chapters in this novella, but it was just enough to make me want the series as a whole. Sidney is a real woman in today's world, a woman who thinks her extra pounds might get in the way of love and a future. This delightful little story may have only taken a short time to read, but it was very effective and enjoyable.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

As the youngest of five sisters, I have never turned down a challenge...or been called by the right name.  My writing career may have started out as a dare by one of my sisters, but I haven't put my pen down since.

I grew up on a small island off the Texas Gulf Coast, where most of my childhood vacations consisted of camping or hunting trips to the deer lease.  Although I'll always be a Texan at heart, I currently reside in the Midwest with my Iowa farm-boy husband and our two sons.  With so much testosterone in my home, it's no wonder I write "girl books."

I am an animal lover, a closet video game enthusiast, and believe the way to know if someone is your soul mate is by canoeing with them because if you both make it back alive, it's obviously meant to be.  I am an avid romance reader who enjoys penning the type of books I love to read most: fun, steamy love stories with heart, heat, laughter, and usually a cowboy or two.  As I call it, "Romance...with a sense of humor."
