DESCRIPTION:
But when the station agrees to allow additional human guests, Mallory knows the break from her peculiar reality is over. After the first Earth shuttle arrives, and aliens and humans alike begin to die, the station is thrown into peril. Stuck smack-dab in the middle of an extraterrestrial whodunit, and wondering how in the world this keeps happening to her anyway, Mallory has to solve the crime—and fast—or the list of victims could grow to include everyone on board….
MY THOUGHTS:
To know Mallory Viridian means that somebody is going to die. It happens every time she draws close to anyone. So when she gets a chance to live on a space station inhabited only by aliens she jumps at it. Things go well for quite some time, but now she finds out that humans will be joining her on the space station. Mallory knows that death will soon follow and there is nothing she can do about it. On a station that is sentient, able to see and feel things, lives are changed and destroyed in equal measure, with apparently no rhyme or reason.
Mallory is a very intriguing character, much like Jessica Fletcher on the once popular television show. Mallory not only constantly finds murder on her trajectory, she has a unique talent in solving these murders. Her once rather than normal life living on this space station has been turned upside down by the arrival of more than one human shuttle. Everything that she was getting to know as normal has turned in complete chaos.
Now as this book is the first book in a new series, in a genre that I would ordinarily do not read, I did find it slow to start, but once I got to know Mallory and a couple of the humans that were on the spaceship, some with dark pasts and secrets,, the story became far more enjoyable. With a compelling murder mystery that was coupled with an exciting conclusion, I do very much look forward to the next book in the series.
Many thanks to Ace and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
