Mid-Year Wrap Up

This post is just a quick overview of all the books I have read at the mid-year mark for 2021. My Goodreads goal is 500 books, so at 183 days by June 30, I had read 280 books. However, at this writing, July 5, I have read six more, so the number has increased to 286.

I have read several wonderful books this year so far. For starters, I would like to mention the tomes that I have had the pleasure of reading: Sacajawea by Anna Lee Waldo, War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy and The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I am eager to continue with Ken Follett's other books as soon as possible. I also reread my favorite classic this year, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

Another highlight this year is completing the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson and Maxine Pietro. It had been years since I stopped at book 10, and I am thrilled that I got back to the series. I am a series fanatic, so although I haven't been able to get to some of the other series on my spreadsheet this year, I did catch up with the latest two books in the Alex Cross series by James Patterson, Criss Cross and Deadly Cross, and the upcoming book in the In Death series by J. D. Robb, Forgotten In Death. In addition to that, for every review title that comes to me, I have gone to Overdrive and Hoopla and have obtained, read and reviewed all connected books and have been composing series reviews on this blog.

A couple of other series I have been able to read are the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz, the Veronica Speedwell series by Deanna Raybourn and the Fox and O'Hare series by Janet Evonavich (and a couple different co-authors), although I have yet to read The Bounty. Another series I enjoyed was the Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan.

I love historical fiction and have been able to read 15 so far this year with more lined up. Most notable would be The Invisible Woman by Erika Roebuck, The Girl at the Back of the Bus by Suzette D. Harrison, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell, The Cotillion Brigade by Glen Craney and The Woman with the Blue Star by Pam Jenoff.

Also, earlier this year I read the nonfiction title by Lisa Genova called Remember, so I just had to read all of her other titles, Still Alice, Inside the O'Briens, Every Note Played, Love Anthony and Left Neglected.

Since this is a midyear wrap up post, my stats are for the end of June of this year.

What books stood out for you for 2021 so far? I would love to know!
