There might be no such a thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediately yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong…
. . . unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake. But after one incredible and seemingly endless date—possibly the best in living history—Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be.
Only no amount of distance or time is nearly enough to forget that something between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life—and even a love—worth remembering.

MY THOUGHTS:
First of all, can we talk about the narrators? Christine Larkin and Zachary Webber have excellently captioned both Samantha and Xavier, our protagonists in this latest read by Abby Jimenez.
Samantha and Xavier are leading challenging lives. Of course, in completely different ways. While the story uses familiar tropes, such as enemies to lovers, or opposite attracts, it was fun getting to know both of the characters. There is a higher level of family drama that was very emotional for a romance.
They live across the country from one another, and this is due to Samantha’s family needing her with a dear relative suffering with dementia. From innumerable phone and video calls, to Xavier flying to where Samantha was, the two were able to not only look past their initial differences, but to find true love with one another. But, it was easy to wonder more than once while reading this story where they would end up if they made a committed relationship. With Xavier’s demanding job as a veterinarian the question came to me many times while reading the book.
With serious - very serious - issues coming up in this book with a sharp emotional edge, the book still manages to remain a swooning romance between Samantha and Xavier.

web | facebook | twitter | instagram Briana, she is in the room of a kidney patient. Jacob soon learns that the patient is Briana's brother Benny, a young man experiencing kidney failure.
For Briana, her first impressions are quite different that Jacob's. When she first saw the handsome doctor, it was because he ran right into her and Briana was less than impressed. Also, Briana was undergoing a lot of stress. Her marriage has ended due to her husband's infidelity, she has suffered another great personal loss, and she is very worried about her brother.
Interestingly, Jacob and Briana begin exchanging letters, and Briana slowly begins to drop her barriers. Two things rather immediately change the course of their growing friendship, which turns into a relationship neither expected. Jacob is a match for Benny, and his brother is soon to marry - to Jacob's ex-girlfriend. Jacob does not want to attend the wedding alone, but he comes with a loud, loving family, and he won't be able to avoid his brother's wedding. So, Briana agrees to be Jacob's fake girlfriend for a few months.
This romantic story faced serious issues - relationships after cheating, serious physical illness, even Jacob's issues with anxiety - and it was all done remarkably well. This second book in the Part of Your World series by Abby Jimenez was a really good read, especially when you consider the author's note at the end of the book.
