Like a puppet on a string, Corinne is forced to play a cruel game of cat-and-mouse due to her actions of five years ago. At the time she was dating Seth, but she could not avoid the powerful attraction she experienced when she met a handsome stranger at the gym named Mateo.
One bad decision quickly led to another, leading Corinne to instant regret. Corinne was determined to put her brief fling behind her. Presently, she and Seth are now married and are the parents to a four-year-old boy. Corinne knows she made the right decision to forget Mateo and to enjoy life with her little family. However, everything changes one night.
Corinne‘s family has always been close-knit. When her sister Georgia is excited to introduce her new boyfriend to Corinne and her parents, Corinne’s heart nearly stops. Georgia’s boyfriend is none other than Mateo. Feigning sickness, Corinne makes her escape that night. That is certainly not the end of things. Corinne is definitely dealing with the burden of guilt and this secret could ruin many lives. This is the least of her worries. In fact, Mateo intends on making her life a living hell.
A sudden deadline is given to Corinne by Mateo to tell her husband what happened. He begins to drag her along in a game of torment that has her frazzled beyond compare. Corinne has a game plan that shows her determination to protect her secret at all costs. However, this story has a chilling twist that makes this latest book by Daniel Hurst an utterly compelling read.
