DESCRIPTION:

When a Gulfstream jet goes down in the Bahamas carrying a fortune in cash and ill-gotten diamonds, expat diving instructor Michael Gannon is the only person on the scene. Assuming himself the beneficiary of a drug deal gone bad, Gannon thinks he’s home free with the sudden windfall until he realizes he forgot to ask one simple question.

Who were the six dead men on the plane?

Gannon soon learns the answer to that fateful question as he is thrust into an increasingly complex and deadly game of cat and mouse with a group of the world’s most powerful and dangerous men who will stop at nothing to catch him.

But as the walls close in, Gannon reveals a few secrets of his own. Before he retired to the islands, Gannon had another life, one with a lethal set of skills that he must now call back to the surface if he wants to make it out alive.

MY THOUGHTS:

Michael Gannon, a retired military veteran, enjoys a peaceful day of deep-sea fishing. However, his tranquility is abruptly shattered when he witnesses a plane crash in the middle of the ocean. Without hesitation, he prepares his gear and dives into the depths to investigate. Tragically, he discovers the wreckage of the plane, bearing the lifeless bodies of six men onboard.

Beyond the grim discovery of the deceased, Michael also finds a substantial sum of cash and a cache of uncut diamonds. His quick thinking leads him to suspect that this incident may have been a botched drug deal. In a moment of foresight, he recalls the existence of a concealed cave, completely imperceptible to the naked eye. With a deep breath, he descends into the abyss and conceals the drugs and money, at least for the present.

However, the allure of the recovered funds and diamonds proves to be too tempting for Michael to resist. He harbors the hope that retrieving these items could transform his life into a state of unparalleled prosperity. Nevertheless, he soon realizes that the plane, the diamonds, and the money are not as easily obtained as he had anticipated.

Michael’s past is not as ordinary as it may seem. He is not merely a retired individual pursuing a hobby of fishing. Rather, he possesses a wealth of training and experience gained during his military service, which proves invaluable in confronting the adversaries who seek to claim the stolen goods. This gripping action-packed novel delivers an exhilarating narrative, filled with peril and the exhilaration of the pursuit. It serves as an engaging introduction to a series that promises to captivate readers with its thrilling exploits.

Many thanks to Hanover Square Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

The next installment in the pulse-pounding Gannon series, featuring murder, intrigue and a deadly new mystery that may just be his last…

Fresh from a lethal entanglement with some of the deepest and darkest players in the global intelligence services, Michael Gannon heads to the safest place he can think of: deep in the wilds of Utah on the ranch of one of his oldest and closest war buddies.

But when his friend’s brother is found dead in the rocky foothills of Grand Teton, Gannon realizes there are some things more important than keeping your head down. Is his death just one in a string of grisly murders mysteriously occurring around national parks—or a part of something even more sinister?

Flushed from cover, Gannon soon finds himself teamed up with a tenacious female FBI agent on the trail of a dangerous mystery and a head-on collision course with a ruthless killer whose skills at war are as deadly as they come.

MY THOUGHTS:

Despite his deep-seated desire for retirement from military service, which had honed his remarkable skills to an extraordinary degree, Michael Gannon’s retirement proved to be far from idyllic. Currently, he is spending time with his son, engaging in an unconventional father-son bonding experience. Michael is in hiding from adversaries on multiple fronts, necessitating their temporary residence with his friend John Owen.

Upon John’s brother’s untimely demise, Michael readily agrees to accompany John on a retrieval mission for the deceased. Michael’s world is characterized by its complexity, and this situation is no exception. Drawing parallels to the first book in this series, the second installment maintains its thrilling narrative as Michael races from one location to another, accompanied by his old friend Kit Hagen, an FBI agent. Killers continue to pose a persistent threat, ensuring that Michael’s journey remains fraught with danger.

An intricate plot unfolds, exposing the arduous nature of trust. A pervasive injustice permeates the legal system, involving multiple agencies. Amidst a high body count, a series of thrilling chases and complex interpersonal dynamics, this captivating read ensnares the reader from beginning to end.

DESCRIPTION:

The next installment in the pulse-pounding Gannon series from the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of James Patterson’s Zoo and Michael Bennett series.

As Mike Gannon’s son Declan sets out to leave the nest, Gannon decides that a going-away trip is in high order, a bucket-list grizzly bear hunt up into the wilds of Alaska. But there are other hunters there. And they’re not looking for grizzly.

Soon Mike finds himself alone and captured on a corporate plane heading southbound for an incredibly lethal encounter that is about to blow his mind before it tries to blow him away. Mike’s enemies are in the driver’s seat until they realize they overlooked one simple thing.

Some men are easy to handle, but there are other men who are harder to break…

MY THOUGHTS:

Michael Gannon and his son Declan have maintained a close bond throughout their lives. Despite Michael’s years of service as a former Marine and his previous career as a police officer, their relationship has been remarkably strong. As Declan embarks on his independence, Michael seeks to provide a memorable gesture for his son. A bear hunt in the dense wilderness of Alaska appears to be an ideal choice.

However, Michael’s pursuit of the hunt takes an unexpected turn when he becomes entangled in a perilous situation involving his capture and subsequent chase. Enemies have set their sights on eliminating Michael, and each dangerous encounter he has faced has proven to be in his favor. Despite the constant pursuit, Michael’s ability to evade capture and confront his adversaries has remained unwavering.

For readers familiar with Michael Ledwidge’s work in the Michael Bennett series co-authored with James Patterson, Michael Gannon presents a distinct character. These Gannon novels are characterized by their action-packed narrative and are sure to captivate readers with the thrilling storytelling.

DESCRIPTION:

Hiding out off the grid on a trout stream in the middle of rural New England, the last thing Mike Gannon is looking for is any more trouble. But then he bumps into an old girlfriend who is an investigator up from New York City looking into the mysterious death of a student at a nearby prestigious college. And soon, what Mike wants and what he’s about to get become two very different things.

First a whistleblower comes forward with evidence of a deadly scandal.

Then shortly after arrives a group of dangerous men who will do anything to keep secrets buried.

Then the lights go out.

No Safe Place is Mike Gannon’s most nail-biting, most hair-raising, most suspenseful and satisfying and thrilling adventure yet.

MY THOUGHTS:

Michael Gannon is no stranger with regard to trouble. Ex-Marine and ex-NYPD, he is highly trained and executes whatever skills necessary to essentially stay alive. Your average everyday guy doesn’t need this kind of training but Michael certainly does, even more it seems now that he is retired.

As a lover of the Michael Bennett series co-authored with James Patterson, it has been a real joy to see a different type of protagonist. This time around Michael is helping out an old friend named Colleen he had really liked to have dated, but never felt he was good enough for her. Colleen is in town trying to discover why a young student was murdered.

Things are really heated in this latest entry in the Michael Gannon series as the story delv es into some deep subjects. There is murder, whistle blowing and a high level of corruption. Danger is close on the heels of Mike and Colleen, as well as the wife who was the whistleblower. Then there are others who are there as well, and all of their lives are in jeopardy. With Mike’s exceptional offensive and defensive skills, the bad guys just might be getting more than they bargained for.

Not only is this my favorite of the four books in the series so far, I can see this produced as an action movie or a series television show. Mike is a tough guy, but easy to love, especially as justice is the name of his game.

Many thanks to Hanover Square Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
