Despite the tragedy, the pageant has continued annually. Now in 2025, the teenagers who once competed against each other are mothers, and this time around, it’s their daughters taking the stage as contestants.
The pressure builds because the pageant is being held at Sherman Ranch, which is currently under construction. Decades of angst and guilt quickly come to the fore as the characters face the terrifying reality of long-buried secrets literally being unearthed.
However, the real tension shifts into high gear when a severe storm knocks out the power grid, trapping everyone inside together. With a fresh murder taking place in the dark, the story masterfully peels back the layers of the past until the town's darkest secrets are finally revealed.
