BLOG TOUR - Storm Clouds Ahead for the Village Midwife

DESCRIPTION:

As the sun crests the indigo Lake District hills and blossom froths in the trees, midwife Zoe Padbury reaches for her boyfriend’s hand. Her life, at this moment, feels perfect. She has no idea of the storm clouds that lie ahead…

The villagers of Thimblebury know that midwife Zoe Padbury loves babies and now that she’s settled at Hilltop Farm with her boyfriend Alex, they can’t resist wondering when she’s going to start a family of her own. Yet it doesn’t feel like quite the right time. Alex is so busy and Zoe has her hands full with all her new mums to look after. Still, she has hopes for the future…

But what she doesn’t expect is to walk into her cosy kitchen and find Alex’s glamorous ex-girlfriend sitting at the scrubbed pine kitchen table. Virginia claims to be helping Alex with work but as she looks Zoe up and down and offers her a perfectly manicured hand to shake, Zoe can’t ignore a shiver of foreboding. What will this mean for her and Alex?

Zoe tries to quash the pangs of jealousy that wash over her, but with Virginia around what feels like all hours of the day, she and Alex end up in a devastating argument. And when she receives some news that changes everything, she doesn’t know if she can share her troubles… Can they find their way back to each other? Or will these storm clouds break their bond forever?

A completely heartwarming read about trusting the one you love when times get tough. Fans of Jo Bartlett and Jessica Redland will laugh, cry and root for Zoe in Storm Clouds Ahead for the Village Midwife.

MY THOUGHTS:

Zoe Padbury is a warm and compassionate midwife in the picturesque village of Thimblebury. Her life feels nearly complete. She loves caring for her patients and is honored to help bring new life into the world. She is also happy and secure in her relationship with her boyfriend, Alex. Still, Zoe hopes there is even more happiness in their future. She dreams of the possibility of having a child of her own.

Zoe’s sense of contentment is shaken one evening when she returns home from work to find Alex’s beautiful ex-girlfriend, Virginia, sitting comfortably at their kitchen table. Virginia assures Zoe that everything is perfectly innocent and that she is simply helping Alex with some work. Despite those reassurances, Zoe cannot help but worry that old feelings may still linger between them. Before long, her insecurities begin to take hold, leaving her increasingly unhappy.

If you enjoy stories that feel like a warm hug, look no further than the Village Midwife series. Both the delightful residents and the charming village of Thimblebury are sure to capture readers’ hearts. Zoe is such a lovable character that it is easy to understand why she feels threatened by Alex’s former relationship. There is also much more happening in Zoe’s life in this installment, making the title especially fitting.

Tilly Tennant has created a wonderful series filled with warmth, heart, and community spirit. I am very much looking forward to discovering what lies ahead for Zoe and the other residents of Thimblebury.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

From a young age, Tilly Tennant was convinced that she was destined for the stage.  Once she realised she wasn’t actually very good at anything that would put her on the stage, she started to write stories instead. There were lots of terrible ones, like The Pet Rescue Gang (aged eight), which definitely should not see the light of day ever again. Thankfully, her debut novel, Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn was not one of those, and since it hit the Amazon best seller lists she hasn’t looked back. Born in Dorset, she currently lives in Staffordshire with her husband, two daughters, three guitars, four ukuleles, two violins and a kazoo.
