BLOG TOUR - It’s Me or Her

DESCRIPTION:

As my eyes slowly start to open, I find myself at the foot of the stairs. I should be confused about how I got here. But I already know. I didn’t trip. It wasn’t an accident. She pushed me.

Me: Before I met Andrew, I never believed in love at first sight. But when we meet for the first time, I know he’s meant for me. Within days, we start a whirlwind romance and over candlelit dinners, we plan our dream future.

When Andrew suggests we move in together, I say yes instantly. But the dream soon shatters when I see his mother at the front door. Watching me carry my bags upstairs, I can feel her piercing stare. She doesn’t want me here.

Her: I watch in horror as Daisy relaxes into her new home with my Andrew. I’ve met women like Daisy before, I know what they’re capable of. And I will do anything to protect him.

But then I remind myself: Daisy has come into our lives like a moth to a flame. There’s only ever been room for one woman in this house. And I already know how this love story is going to end.

A totally gripping and pulse-pounding psychological thriller packed with twist after twist. Perfect for fans of The HousemaidThe Girl on the Train and The Wife Between Us.

MY THOUGHTS:

Daisy finds herself more than drawn to Andrew. In fact, he is compelling. Addictive. “Like a drug”, as she thought at one point in their relationship. Before meeting Andrew, Daisy’s life was pretty much like anyone else’s life. Day by day, working a steady job, living with general contentment. But, a mugging and a chance meeting, and what would soon become an all-consuming attraction, changed her life’s course.

Circumstances drove her from her home, and right into Andrew’s. However, he doesn’t live alone. His mum, Rachel, lives with him. And, as Daisy painfully learns, a mother with perhaps too much love for her grown son.. Aside from her strong draw to Andrew, Daisy can’t believe how much her life changed so quickly. On the one hand, it seemed logical to slow things down, but on the other hand, have things simply gone out of control by pure coincidence? This question comes to Daisy as she tries to navigate what is going on between her and Andrew, and, unfortunately, Rachel.

Things had gotten out of order at her house. Self-doubt and her OCD gave Daisy pause more than once. This is the intense vibe that flows through the pages of this book. Then, of course, Andrew. Is he too good to be true? Better yet, is he just too much altogether?

What a crafty, twisty, and compelling story. Victoria Jenkins writes fabulous psychological thrillers and this book certainly proves that. As it was easy to see Daisy as a victim of circumstance, it was equally easy to see her life quickly spiral out of control. Self-doubt and her OCD gave Daisy pause more than once. That is what made things work in this story, increasing the intense vibe that flows through the pages of this book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
