DESCRIPTION:
The first thrilling mystery in the new North Falls series from Karin Slaughter, New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Girls and the Will Trent series.
Welcome to North Falls—a small town where everyone knows everyone. Or so they think.
Until the night of the fireworks. When two teenage girls vanish, and the town ignites.
For Officer Emmy Clifton, it’s personal. She turned away when her best friend's daughter needed help—and now she must bring her home.
But as Emmy combs through the puzzle the girls left behind, she realizes she never really knew them. Nobody did.
Every teenage girl has secrets. But who would kill for them? And what else is the town hiding?

MY THOUGHTS:
Madison and Cheyenne, both 15 years old, had grand plans for their immediate future. However, their plans were undoubtedly improbable due to their tender ages. Tragically, things didn’t turn out as they had anticipated. The events that unfolded were heartbreaking, especially when it came to Officer Emmy Clifton. Emmy knew the girls and felt that she could have done something to prevent this tragedy. She has been working closely with her father, Chief Gerald Clifton.
When the girls’ fate was discovered, everyone was devastated. The investigation went deep, revealing some very uncomfortable truths. It seemed that there was something sinister happening in the town of North Falls, and Emmy was determined to uncover the truth.
The timeline changes and when another tragedy seems imminent, the scope of the investigation takes on an incredibly urgent pace. In fact, Emmy’s family dynamics are explored as she does what she can to find justice for the anyone in danger, all while keeping her strong professionalism.
Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent series has been fantastic, with book after book. Now this new series set in North Falls promises to be just as addictive. This first book is a multi-layered read with several moving parts that flow together seamlessly page after page. The next book is highly anticipated.
Many thanks to William Morrow and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
