MY THOUGHTS:
Thirty one years after her disappearance, the remains of a young woman is discovered. With a heightened sense of urgency, Detective Amanda Steele is determined to find her identity as well as the killer and bring them to justice. The body was discovered in an unusual manner. Due to an attempting shooting, the body was revealed. Amanda and her partner Trent have a suspect in mind, but must reach deep into the past to unravel the mystery of the body that was found.
Cases like this really get to Amanda. As a mother, she cannot imagine what the family of the young woman went through when their daughter disappeared. Meanwhile, they start to investigate the person that did the shooting, and his name is Cameron Cofell. While the question is as to why he was shooting at a priest at a church, the investigation soon widens out and goes far beyond that.
It just might be a matter of coincidence that Cameron is somehow tied to the remains of the body, thus the mystery is intense and needs to be solved. Meanwhile, there are snippets of the dynamics of Amanda and Trent in their working and personal relationships. It is these dynamics that come with the recommendation of reading the series in order so that the full backstory of these engaging characters plays out.
If you enjoy thrilling police procedurals that has compelling characters and intriguing storylines, then stop right here and grab this series by Carolyn Arnold, as it is one that comes highly recommended.
