DESCRIPTION:
Planning a wedding is so romantic . . . except when it’s not yours, and you’re planning it with the guy you’re secretly crushing on.
Scottish schoolteacher Liv Holland has a secret. She’s been carrying a torch for Arran Adebayo, her brother’s best friend, for years. A blind date gone wrong cements in Liv’s mind that Arran has no romantic interest in her whatsoever. But then, with her brother set to marry her own best friend, she and Arran are enlisted to help plan the festivities…
After being left at the altar by his ex, single father Arran is having trouble managing his growing feelings towards the woman who is both his best friend’s sister and his son’s Liv. Then his mind is blown when fate thrusts them together for an unexpected blind date, but he messes up his chance to tell her how he feels.
As the big day approaches and Liv and Arran’s connection intensifies, their chemistry chafes against their checkered romantic histories. Risking everything for love could mean losing each other forever . . . or being the next ones to find their happy ever after.

MY THOUGHTS:
Liv Holland’s brother is about to marry her best friend, and she will soon find herself constantly around his best friend Arran Adebayo. Normally, she’d be thrilled to be involved in her brother’s wedding preparations, but Arran’s constant presence is a challenge. Liv has been in love with him for years, and she’s sure he doesn’t see her.
Liv will be involved in Arran’s life for a different reason altogether. She’s about to become his son’s preschool teacher. She also offers to babysit him impromptu. And then, there’s the blind date—with each other.
Sparks fly. Liv has her brother’s wedding to plan, and things between Liv and Aaran slowly evolve into something more than either would have expected. Aaran has reasons for not wanting a serious relationship, as does Liv. But their bond grows stronger, and this might just pull them together despite their reservations.
I loved this book. Sometimes, picturing your protagonists can be difficult, but not with The Wedding Engagement. Liv compares Aaran’s looks to RegĂ©-Jean Page, the handsome man who played the Duke in the first Bridgerton season. It was a great distraction while I read this book.
This Scottish romance with a multicultural twist was a truly engaging read. I was entertained from beginning to end, especially with the sexual tension between Liv and Aaran and the humor that balanced the already enjoyable story.
Many thanks to Berkley and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
I live in Scotland with my husband, two children, and massive notebook collection—having been brought up in a mixed-race family in Yorkshire.
Growing up, I always enjoyed stories about falling in love. But rather than daydreaming of being rescued by a knight in shining armour, I imagined myself fighting dragons alongside him or battling supervillains as heroic allies. Sometimes he might rescue me, but I would rescue him right back.
As an adult, I went off to medical school and became a doctor. However as time passed, I began to crave a creative outlet to counter the soul-sapping burnout that my career inflicted upon me, and also to achieve the happy endings that are so often lacking in the real world. I wanted to create heroines who represent me and my values, as well as heroes who truly love women—men who find their true loves inspiring, want to connect with them as soulmates, and fully open themselves to their partners on an emotional level. So, I decided that the logical way forward was to pen my own romances. I then opted to add my sense of humour into the mix and hey presto! I became a rom com author.
A Zoe Allison novel promises a heroine who is not only her hero’s equal in ability and intellect, but whose hero equals her in emotional intelligence. My characters overcome conflict infused with spine tingling sexual tension to forge a deep connection as soul mates as well as lovers, and ultimately, they both rescue each other emotionally. Even if they might begin their journey as enemies…
