SWEET AS HONEY * Fern Michaels

Natalie Simmons is through with pining over her ex. If only her efforts to be social again didn’t lead to repeated run-ins with an infuriating beekeeper at the local farmer’s market. Yet Garrett keeps buzzing around. And as Natalie watches his patience and dedication in tending his hives, she begins to wonder if life has a sweet surprise in store.

EVERYTHING SHE’D EVER WANTED * Lori Foster

Annabeth can see that her neighbor’s handsome nephew, Devlin, has his hands full, raising his little girl single-handed. Yet though his life is frazzled, it’s full of the kind of joy and togetherness she longs for. And when Devlin’s daughter and Annabeth’s tiny dog fall hard for each other, it might be the start of more than one beautiful friendship.

THE MEMORY CABIN * Carolyn Brown

Jenna Stewart loves gathering at her Texas lakeside cabin with her girlfriends. It’s an annual tradition to reconnect with the women who helped her deal with her mother’s passing along with the end of her marriage. But this year, lives are changing, dreams are evolving. And perhaps Jenna’s heart has healed enough to welcome a new love that arrives with the first flowers of spring . . .

SWEET AS HONEY * Fern Michaels

Healing a broken heart while helping her father mend a broken hip provides Natalie with the perfect distraction. In fact, it doesn’t take long for her to realize that her heart wasn’t truly broken after all. Could a certain beekeeper find his way into her heart? Despite her initial reservations, Natalie can’t help but be drawn to Garrett. This story goes beyond simply being impressed with Garrett’s beekeeping skills and honey-making process. In this charming novella, Natalie’s compassionate nature shines through, and it’s easy to hope for her to find her own sweet and happy ending.

EVERYTHING SHE’D EVER WANTED * Lori Foster

AnnaBeth, with her unfortunate past, has always yearned for a family of her own. Devlin, with his sweet little girl Mia, captures her heart. This touching story demonstrates that tragedy can blossom into hope. What Devlin and Mia have experienced has shown this to be the case. I thoroughly enjoyed the unfolding of this sweet romance, particularly the unconditional love that Mia embodies.

THE MEMORY CABIN * Carolyn Brown

Sparks fly instantly when Jenna and Carson meet, especially considering their shared history. This heartwarming romance includes the bonds of friendship as well as grief counseling, giving this book an emotional edge. While this was undoubtedly a wonderful romance, a tragic past and hidden secrets could have easily derailed everything.

I thoroughly enjoyed all three stories in this delightful anthology. It’s no surprise that each novella would have a happy ending. These heartwarming stories have an emotional depth that makes them a quick and enjoyable read.

Many thanks to Kensington and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS:

Fern Michaels isn’t a person. I’m not sure she’s an entity either since an entity is something with separate existence. Fern Michaels® is what I DO. Me, Mary Ruth Kuczkir. Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth. I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day. To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was ‘a dinky little thing’ weighing in at four and a half pounds. However, I answer to Fern since people are more comfortable with a name they can pronounce.

As they say, the past is prologue. I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids. When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job. Those were his exact words. I didn’t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother. I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like. The library was a magical place for me. It still is to this day. Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book. For some reason that didn’t intimidate me. As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does. Guess what, I don’t have that husband any more. Guess what else! I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.

I’ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years. I hope I can continue for another 37 years. It wasn’t easy during some of those years. As I said, I had to persevere. My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot. She said when God is good to you, you have to give back. For a while I didn’t know how to do that. When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels® Foundation.

New York Times
and USA Today bestselling author Carolyn Brown was born in Texas and raised in southern Oklahoma. These days she and her husband make their home in Davis, Oklahoma, a small town of less than three thousand people where everyone knows everyone, knows what they are doing and with whom, and read the weekly newspaper to see who got caught.

A plaque hangs on her office wall that says I know the voices are not real but they have such great ideas. That is her motto and muse as she goes through the days with quirky characters in her head, telling their stories, one by one, and loving her job.

She has been married almost half a century to a retired English teacher that she calls Mr. B and he does not read her books before they are published because she cannot afford a divorce. They have three grown children.—and enough grandchildren to keep them busy and young.

When Carolyn is not writing she likes to sit in the back yard and watch the two tom cats protect the yard from all kinds of wicked varmints like crickets, other cats, spiders and blue jays.

MY THOUGHTS:

Wendy’s job as a nurse undoubtedly showcases her compassionate nature. However, her personal life leaves much to be desired. In fact, her husband urges her to leave. Go away. After the pandemic and the lockdown, Wendy and her husband, Harry, have drifted apart. With their children older, Wendy agrees to leave for a while.

Wendy’s absence from her family isn’t new. Due to her job as a nurse and her concerns about the pandemic, she had already been spending time away from home. So, when Harry suggests they take a break, Wendy agrees. Unsure about the future, Wendy tries to assess her life and problems, hoping to find solutions.

Deciding to spend time in picturesque France, Wendy embarks on a journey of self-discovery. She even comes to terms with certain aspects of herself that require serious consideration. Finding a new friend in France proves instrumental in helping Wendy unravel the root causes of her problems. This emotional story by Nick Alexander delves into challenging issues, allowing readers to witness Wendy’s struggles while holding onto the hope that her life may take a positive turn.

MY THOUGHTS:

However, her idyllic existence is about to take an unexpected turn when she discovers she has a half-sister named Fion. Amidst the excitement of her upcoming engagement with her new fiancé Heath, Ottilie and Heath are planning a grand party to share the joyous news with the entire village.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

From a young age, Tilly Tennant was convinced that she was destined for the stage.  Once she realised she wasn’t actually very good at anything that would put her on the stage, she started to write stories instead. There were lots of terrible ones, like The Pet Rescue Gang (aged eight), which definitely should not see the light of day ever again. Thankfully, her debut novel, Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn was not one of those, and since it hit the Amazon best seller lists she hasn’t looked back. Born in Dorset, she currently lives in Staffordshire with her husband, two daughters, three guitars, four ukuleles, two violins and a kazoo.

BLOG TOUR - Welcome to West Street

DESCRIPTION:

‘Welcome! I hope you’ll be happy here,’ I say, standing on the doorstep and holding out a freshly baked cake. Amanda smiles but it doesn’t reach her eyes. The new arrivals to West Street clearly have secrets. But that’s okay. Because so do I…

Caroline twitches aside her curtains to see the new family moving in. A mother – beautifully dressed in expensive clothes – and two young children. Where is her husband, she wonders? And why are they moving in to the smallest house on the street? They really don’t seem the type.

But Caroline believes it’s important to be welcoming. It’s important to know everything that’s happening on West Street.

Amanda unpacks another box and breathes a shaky sigh. Her son is refusing to speak. Her daughter misses her friends. But we’re safe, Amanda tells herself. Her neighbour Caroline seems nice, if a little nosy. And most importantly, West Street is peaceful. Anonymous. Nobody knows who she is… do they?

But can Amanda really trust anyone on West Street? And can they trust her? Because when her secrets catch up with her…

Someone will go missing.

Someone will be taken away in handcuffs.

And someone, will die.

A totally addictive psychological thriller about a peaceful suburb where nothing is as perfect as it seems. Fans of Lisa Jewell, Shari Lapena and The Perfect Marriage won’t be able to put this down.

MY THOUGHTS:

Amanda, having endured years of domestic abuse, has finally decided to leave her husband. She has gathered her two children, packed up everything she can and fled to West Street, hoping that her husband won’t find them.

From the moment they arrive, one of the neighbors, Caroline, is on the watch. Under the guise of being welcoming, Caroline wants to know why they have moved there. Amanda can’t help but feel a bit put off by Caroline’s pushy nature, but she also has other worries and these are of great concern.

Amanda also meets Gemma, and the two hit it off right away. However, Amanda’s son Jordan’s behavior really has her worried, so she strives to strike a balance between her determination and the struggles she has with him.

What a thrilling domestic drama! Nicole Trope’s latest book is a gripping and entertaining read. Amanda’s fears were palpable and Caroline’s nosiness was with intent, and I loved watching the drama unfold. There were more than a few surprises in this story, and it was a book that I couldn’t put down.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Nicole Trope went to university to study Law but realised the error of her ways when she did very badly on her first law essay because-as her professor pointed out- 'It's not meant to be a story.' She studied teaching instead and used her holidays to work on her writing career and complete a Masters' degree in Children's Literature.

The idea for her first published novel, The Boy under the Table, was so scary that it took a year for her to find the courage to write the emotional story. She went on to publish a further five novels in Australia before joining Bookouture in 2019. She is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller in the USA, UK, AUS and CAN.

She lives in Sydney with her husband and three children.

BLOG TOUR - My Daughter’s Silence

DESCRIPTION:

A gripping and thought-provoking novel from bestseller Caroline Finnerty that asks the question: How far would you go, to protect your child?

When Charlotte Daly wins a scholarship to the prestigious St Thomas’s school, her mother Ali – who has struggled to bring Charlotte up as a single mum – is so proud. She hopes this opportunity will mean a better life for her clever, brilliant daughter.

Ali worries, however, that Charlotte is having a hard time fitting in with her new, wealthy peers. So when Charlotte is invited to a sixteenth birthday party by popular boy Ollie, Ali pushes her to go, hopeful that she'll finally make some friends.

Just before midnight, Charlotte calls Ali to come pick her up from the party. She’s shaking and silent: it’s obvious something has happened but she won’t say what.

It’s only the next day, when Ali is at work, that she learns a teenage boy has been seriously injured. Then the police turn up at their house, wanting to question Charlotte about the events of that night. People are pointing the blame at Charlotte, saying the injured boy was last seen talking to her, before he was found unconscious in the pool.

As the investigation deepens, Ali finds that everyone has their own agenda and people will stop at nothing to protect their children – especially wealthy people. Only Charlotte knows the truth about what happened that night. Can Ali get her to tell the truth before it’s too late?

MY THOUGHTS:

Ali Daly, a hardworking single mother of sixteen-year-old Charlotte, pours her heart into their family. The two have always been closed, but their relationship has been strained as of late. Nonetheless, Ali remains steadfast in her love for her daughter, giving her grace, convinced that it’s merely teenage angst.

When a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity arises for Charlotte, Ali seizes it to secure her future. However, this decision further widens the gap between them. Ali remains optimistic, confident that Charlotte will eventually come around. But when a tragic event involving another teen occurs, Ali’s worries for Charlotte intensify.

While the narrative primarily focuses on Ali’s perspective, readers gain a glimpse into Charlotte’s constant turmoil. As the story progresses, some deeper subjects emerge, evoking a profound sense of compassion for both Ali and Charlotte. This compelling story is my first read by Caroline Finnerty, and it certainly won’t be my last.
