Detective Josie Quinn and her fiancé Noah barely got to the church in time for their long-awaited wedding. In fact, an accident on the way almost completely derailed them. Frenzied as can be, they are finally getting ready to stand before everyone and make their vows. However, a commotion outside is taking place, cause Josie to be greatly distracted. Before long, Josie and Noah's fellow police officers begin to gather outside. Josie just has to know what is going on.
They soon discover that the body of a twelve-year-old girl has been found right there at the church. Neither Josie nor Noah feel they can simply go about their wedding as planned. In fact, they both rush to the scene, despite being fully dressed for their wedding. In fact, Josie's fellow officers tell them to go on and get married. But, how can they after the discovery of the body of the little girl?
Thus begins an intense investigation that Josie must be a part of. She recognized the child from a previous investigation. Josie and the others rush to her home, only to find further tragedy, made even more concerning when at first they discover that Emily, the sister of the child found dead, is missing. Time is definitely of the essence. When Josie indeed finds Emily, finding the killer is ever more critical.
What a quandary! With more than one possible suspect, Josie, Noah and the others race against time trying the keep Emily safe, all while finding secrets, lies and danger at every turn. This compelling read by Lisa Regan is taut with tension that never once lets up.
This series is definitely going strong, and this book, Hush Little Girl, is wonderfully executed, and goes from danger to excitement to drama and back again without missing a beat. The characterization is excellent, the drama compelling and the conclusion heart-wrenching, leaving me more than eager to see what else is in store for Josie, Noah and the rest of the team.
